Thie page WAS essentially an experiment of sorts. I have, in my continuing search for free POP3 e-mail services, amassed a large number of accounts. So I decided to set up temporary PostPets on these accounts, to see which ones work best! For most of the summer, while at my workplace, I busily set up and diligently checked the various e-mail servers for reliability and so on. Since my job ended on the 28th, the pets were all DELETED. The results from each day will eventually be posted on The Delivery Room, where you can find out more about each pet, as well as find out how the mail servers were for that day.

Based in Canada, so you know it can't be bad. ;D Free e-mail, free unlimited webspace, heavy reliance on ads. The neat thing is that all the "neighbourhoods" are on a geographic theme. I chose to move into the Vancouver subdomain... there are many other cities around the world to choose from! Why not see if the city you live in.. or always wanted to live in... is available?
Oh, and if the settings look too complicated, CrossWinds provides you with a nice little e-mail tutorial.
Settings are:
A new geocities-type web community, on an Alphabet scheme! Various options, from 5 MB space to 10 MB to beyond! And so far, the e-mail seems pretty reliable, too!
Settings are:
Takes awhile to setup, but offers you a total of 3 megs for e-mail and webpage space! And your own FTP server! A little slow, though...
Settings are:
Takes at least 6 hours to get an account, and you may not get your first choice of username. Also a tad on the slow side. Nice and easy to set up, though!
Settings are:
The name says it all. ForFree.at also offers free webpages!
Using "member@forfree.at" as an example, the settings are:
Don't forget to put your own username wherever it says "member"!
The Free e-mail provider that I use! Doesn't always work well, though :( and many are the error messages that you can get....
Settings are:
Hempseed.Com:
This site is trying to use e-mail as
a political statement: namely, to legalize the use of the fabric known as "hemp" which is prohibited in many parts of the world.
PolBox:
I had a bit of trouble connecting to this site, but I eventually got there :) However, the e-mail connection can be equally slow :(
It offers POP3 e-mail ONLY, NO web-based mail.
Settings are:
American Express Mail:
This, in fact, is a very
cleverly disguided USA.net or Net@ddress Account. Presumably, you get the same POP3
service at USA.net. It has filters, forwarding
capability, etc, as well as 5 MB e-mail storage capability.
Despite the name, you don't have to have an American Express card to join. All you need is
internet access!
Settings are:
InfiniteMail:
This one claims
to let you read usenet groups, as well as give you the option of either using it for
webmail to read an existing POP account, or creating one on the server (Choose the
"create" option.) I don't get how to use it, though... it makes it look like you
have to download a program or something (???)
Last but never least, there is
dear old Geocities, who now gives you the option of signing up for free Geomail when
signing up for your free webpage.
Keep in mind, however, that you MUST "move in" to your website within a month or
so if you want to keep it (and the geomail addy).

I hope this helped somewhat. If you need more info, feel free to e-mail me or ICQ me! And if any of the above e-mail addies don't work, e-mail me!
