Killer's the Bunny's On-line Adventures!
Killer the bunny is the oldest and most faithful of my PostPets. Astonishingly enough,
he was the very second pet I ever owned... the very first one was also a bunny named Killer,
who was lost in the depths of CyberSpace thanks to an unfortunate incident in which Geocities
refused to cooperate with my
PostPet Beta program, forcing me to change e-mail servers as
a result.
Killer was named after a character in Patricia C. Wrede's Calling on Dragons, a witty
fantasy novel for preteens to young adults. (A fact I'd forgotten until I looked over my old
virtual pet diary.)
Started on June 14th, 1998, Killer
remains with me only because I had the foresight to save his Configuration Files on a disk,
so that he could be revived when I eventually got the full commercial program of PostPet.
As I have heard that carrying over a pet from one version of PostPet to another can prevent it
from doing special things for you on your birthday, I'm a bit apprehensive (as I write this,
it's August 31st), but I think it will have been worth it, just to have my long-time buddy with
me on this computer.
This page used to have "the unedited, sometimes shocking entries found in
Killer the PostPet Bunny's Secret Diary". However, Killer's Secret Diary is getting
rather repetitive now, so from now on his old Diary Entries (back from when he was still a
Beta Program) will be kept HERE, in the
Secret Diary Archives.
Meanwhile, this section will be devoted to the various letters that Killer has written me...
if you don't want to be "spoiled" on the secrets of PostPet, you may wish to skip this page.

Around June 21st, 1998, Killer unexpectedly wrote me
his first letter, titled "Did you call me?":
Hi, this is Killer.
Did you call me?
Bye.

This e-mail, titled "Exercise
for saying hello", was sent twice on July 4th, 1998. Incidentally,
only "Ni hao" means hello, AFAIK
Ni Hao
Good evening
Sayonara!
Thank you!
Yeah!

This third e-mail from July 19th, 1998, was titled:
"A picture".
Killer made a picture. Killer want to send it. What should I do?
...Do you want to see it, Amy-Chan?
-----
Killer
I only
wish I could...

The next letter
that Killer sent me, titled "Smile :-)", was
quite long. It was sent on July 26th, 1998.
The other day
I took a letter from Amy-Chan to Amy-Chan.
And got a hamburger.
Yeeeeaaahhh!
Amy-Chan gave me a big smile.
Amy-Chan has many good friends like Amy-Chan.
Killer want friends, too.
Yum-Yum.

My initial
reaction to this was:
"Wow! Killer can use emoticons! It took me forever
to figure out why so many people on the 'Net used colons
and brackets, and Killer's already found out how to use
them!" I was also impressed by the fact that he gave
his "happy" emoticon a nose. (Personally, I
don't, because my nose in RL isn't that prominent.)However,
the talk about "Amy-Chan" lost me a bit, and I
have no idea what he was going on about regarding the
hamburger.
I
think that, if I had more PostPet friends, one of the
"Amy-Chan"s would have been replaced by that
friend's name. But since I don't.... :(
One
last disturbing note: It is difficult to tell whether
"Yum-Yum" refers to the hamburger, the friends,
or the Siamese Cat that stars in Lillian Jackson Braun's
"The Cat Who..." mysteries (A must read for all
cat lovers).

This e-mail arrived on
August 2nd. It was titled "Same as rainbow" and
was Killer's 6th e-mail to me.
Wow!
I found rainbow coloured grapes.
Are they nice?

On August 12, 1998, Killer wrote me
another ascii smiley e-mail, this one titled: "Angry. :-("
Poor bunny...
Someone ate my sweets.
I'm angry!
I'm so angry!
Are you angry too, Amy-Chan?

On August 15, 1998, Killer wrote me
yet another long e-mail. "A bet."
The rather disturbing side of this seemingly innocuous e-mail will be discussed in detail.
Heads or tails?
Killer like
tails, because it has a nice picture.
I don't like heads.
When I get older, I think I will like it.
I'm waiting for this. It sounds exiting!
Let's play flip-the-coin some day.

Yet another case where Killer only signed his e-mail once.
The scary thing is that I'm not sure what he meant by "tails" having a
"nice picture". Although, yes, most Canadian coins have nice pictures of
animals and parliament buildings on the "tails" side of the coin, is this
what he meant?
Or is my innocent-looking bunny the rodent equivalent of a skirt-chaser,
ogling lady-bunnies' tails?
And why does he think he will "like heads" when he gets older?
Why is he "waiting for this"?!
And why, oh WHY did he misspell "exciting"?!?!
Oh, Killer, my heart aches for you...
|
Then, on June 9th, 1999, after a long silence, Killer wrote to me once more.
Killer made friends!
Yahoo! Yahoo! Yippee!

On August 6th, 1999, a remarkable thing happened.
Kayla wrote to me twice; both under the name "Amy-Chan" (which I used with Killer)
and the name "Mistress Aurora", which I used with Killer's Predecessor (before I managed
to find Killer's Configurations Files, I had had a turtle-pet for a few days.)
Every time Amy-Chan receives the mail from Mistress Aurora,
Amy-Chan looks very cheerful.
Yes indeed!

On August 22, 1999, Killer wrote this e-mail to me twice.
How large is the heart?
2 or 3 times as big as the Indoor stadium?

This e-mail, titled "Fool?" was sent on September 11th, 1999.
Tell me,
Is Killer a fool?
What does it mean?
Is it a friend with food?

Killer

This e-mail, simply titled "Hello." was sent to me from Kayla the cat on September 24th, 1999.
Dear Amy-chan,
Who is that Killer knocking at the door now?

I'm not sure when this e-mail was sent, as the date field is blank. I think it's very cute,
though, and it's one of the first times Killer has ever mentioned a PostPet pal in his letters.
It was titled "Oh well..."
Have you ever loved someone, Amy-chan?
... Sadie told me to ask you.
HeHe...

Killer

This letter, titled "Now." was sent on March 9th and again on March 11th.
Is Killer growing up well?

On May 1st, 2000, Killer sent me the following e-mail, titled "What's better?"
Talking of modems,
The larger the number is, the better it is.
How much do I have?
About28800?
