Hashizotchi: The Platypus-gotchi?

This character, like its Gen 1 cousin the Kuchipachi, is a bit of a mystery to me. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I've never gotten one of these to live long enough to actually develop any opinions as to what it's like as an adult-chi.

Like Kuchipachi, Hashizotchi is the "main character" of Tamagotchi; they are, for whatever reason, the "spokesaliens" of Tamagotchi that can be seen on most merchandise, and most packaging for the tams themselves.

Adult-chi Type 4, Generation 1: Hashizotchi
Hashizochi!

Hashizotchi is a bit of a controversial fellow. Some say he looks like a duck-billed platypus ("kamo-no-hashi" in Japanese), and others, such as the Japanese Tamagotchi Club, think that he looks more like Godzilla.

The Tamagotchi Daihyakka doesn't say anything either way, but does note that he likes "naps... Japanese kabuki theatre, and kamo-nabe (a kind of duck stew or hot-pot). In the future, he would like to be a kabuki-actor". Among other things, this firmly establishes Hashizotchi as a male (or a female with very progressive ideas): only men are allowed to be kabuki actors. As well, the "-zo" in the middle of his name is a dead giveaway; this is a traditional ending for male first names in Japan, much like the "-jiro" in Ginjirotchi. His speech impediment/quirk is that he ends every sentence with "mon" or "momon"; these can either be nonsense syllables, or the Japanese equivalent of "... so there!"

An old article from the Japanese comic book omnibus Young Jump Magazine claims that he has no sense of taste, and likes to chow down on stuff like mayonnaise burgers and cabbage with ketchup. To each his own, I guess...

I'm always looking for more stuff to put up here. So if you have pics, comments, stories or tips you want to contribute, e-mail me! and please note whether you want to be credited.
