A Birukochi animation

Well, Miriya transformed today... into the birukochi, just as I had surmised. Although the Bandai drawn pic of her is very cute and penguin-y, in reality she looks like a well-tanned Taraten or Hashizotchi with a kangaroo/four-dimensional pocket (fans of the Japanese anime/manga series Doraemon, possibly also known as Din-Dong, will know what I'm talking about). She looks a little like this:

A Birukochi

... Only in real life, her movements are a little more complex. I just decided to be a little lazy, that's all.
*wink*

When she's eating, her jaw drops open just like a tara-ten, displaying all her teeth. She appears to spit/drool/slobber while walking as well as while eating, and when she's been scolded, she splays her legs and snarls at me, sort of like a Gankochi.

Her discipline dropped to 75% and her weight went to 30 grams, but by bed-time she'd been selfish twice (!) and I'd accidentally fed her two candies, so she was a slightly chubby 35 grams.

Here's my feeble attempt at transcribing and translating the Tanka poem that Miriya dictated to me:

To a Lover, Upon Parting
While Watching Snowy White Petals Drift Downward in the Rain

Spring cherry blossoms
Transient beauty, fleeting
As are we, both trapped
In these frail mortal bodies
Soon to bloom, love, fade, and fall.

Sakura chiru
Ame ni utaretsu
Koibito yo
Sonata mo itsuka
Usureyukunoka...

The more astute (and, more to the point, Japanese-literate) among you will have noticed that the English poem and the Japanese one are substantially different.
My only excuse is that I'm not very good at composing and translating poems at the same time.
