Hexen II was released in 1997 by Raven Software as the follow-up to Heretic. Using a modified Quake 1 engine, Hexen II included the familiar hub-style travel, inventory slots, destructible environments, 4 playable characters each with their own unique stats, and a RPG-influenced level up system. In 1998 Raven released HexenWorld, a special multiplayer-only client optimized for modem play. A mission pack was released in 1998, Portals of Praevus which included new enemies, new levels, and a new playable character.
If you are having issues connecting to the servers on Hexen II (NOT HexenWorld), please use GameSpy3D or QTracker to connect. Alternatively, set Port <port number of server> in console and then type connect <ip address>.
