Kuchipachi: The Original Easy-going Ornithoid

This character, like the Tarakochi and Takochi, is a bit of a mystery to me. Not having raised all that many tams to adulthood, I honestly can't say if this is because of my stellar parenting abilities or sheer luck.

I do know that Kuchipatchi and Hashizotchi are the "main characters" of Tamagotchi; they are, for whatever reason, the "spokesaliens" of Tamagotchi that can be seen on most merchandise, and most packaging for the tams themselves. They are also the culprits responsible for the US (and other English-speaking countries') media's misconception of Tamagotchi as an "electronic chicken".

IT'S NOT A CHICKEN, G*DSD@MMIT!

*ahem*
Anyhoo, I don't have many personal observations on these two characters: just second-hand stuff from seeing my sister with hers (I believe she abandoned it to death, as she had been aiming for her beloved Ginjirotchi).

The rest comes from you, beloved readers! So far, I've had one brave soul come forth with reports of her Gameboy Tama's Kuchipatchi/Hashizotchi. So, who wants to be next?

Adult-chi Type 4 Generation 1: Kuchipatchi
Kuchipachi

According to the Tamagotchi Daihyakka (TD), Kuchipatchi ("mouth" + onomatopoeic word for the sound of something snapping shut) is "an easy-going, warm-hearted adult-chi. He's a little slow, so he's always off-tempo, always one beat behind the rest. Still, you can't hate someone with such a nice personality..."

In most Japanese illustrations, he is colored a sort of pea green colour. He has a habit of tacking on the nonsense syllable "-chi" to the ends of his sentences; this caught on and was popular among Japanese teenagers for all of a month or so. I happen to have a little red-inked stamp (the "handle" is a sitting kuchipatchi) which stamps the image of an enraged kuchipatchi accompanied by the words "Okoru-chi!", or "I'm [gonna be] mad-chi!"
I'm Gonna Get Mad!

My sister, when playing with her kuchipatchi, had a very hard time, since he kept "jogging in place" after she pressed the button... making it that much harder to guess which way he was going to look.

Meanwhile, Rebecca from the Tamagotchi Mailing List notes:

On my regular Tam, I've never gotten anything worse than a Masktchi, but on my Gameboy Tam, that's another story...
> Kuchipachi/hashizotchi
I have gotten Kuchipachi and Hashizotchi on my Gameboy by taking very good care of my Tam, keeping the meters all full except for the Discipline one (50%).
I think they are both very cute! I fed them mostly bread, but also the meat and carrot.

Here are some more comments on these mysterious tams:

I got those two guys on the Gameboy Tamagotchi. It's harder than the original. I forgot to "praise it". I thought I was doing well. Kuchi-Patchi is "a good guy overall but not great", on Gameboy. Nintendo messed up a little on the hints I saw in Nintendo Power.

I'm always looking for more stuff to put up here. So if you have pics, comments, stories or tips you want to contribute, e-mail me! and please note whether you want to be credited.
