"Nice To Meet You!"

Getting New Students on TamaSuku:
Approximately three to give times a day you will get a new student (around 45-180 minutes or longer, might be slightly random, unsure). The TamaSuku will play a little tune letting you know when a Tama character has approached you. The Tama Character is going to be your new Student. I always press the Enter Button ("B") when I see a new student and this usually makes the student give me a happy greeting. The student than says "Nice to Meet You!" in Japanese. At this point the new character is added to your Students List and the classroom size number in your status on the first screen will increase another number. You can now Teach (play games with) your new student! There have been times when I didn't press the Enter Button and the new student appeared sad. Perhaps the pressing of the Enter Button is like responding to his greeting.

Visits from Special People:
Visitors like Tamagotchi King will show up from time to time. They speak a rather long set of dialog and sometimes they give you a new student. I have no yet figured out what the dialog is about.

School Open/Closing:
School opens at 8AM and Closes at 10:30PM. When school closes one of your students will sweep the floor and clean up before lights out. One of the students also sweeps up when the day starts.

Turning Sound On/Off:
To do this, press the Up Arrow and the Down Arrow and the Cancel Button ("C") at the same time. To turn the sound off select the bottom option. To turn the sound on select the top option. As far as I know this is the only way to turn off/on the sound.

Pausing:
I have a feeling that there is a way to pause the TamaSuku within the classroom, but for right now I only know the traditional way to pause. To pause you press the Enter Button ("B") to go to the clock screen. Than you put the click into Clock Set Mode by pressing the Right Arrow and the Left Arrow on the "A" keypad at the same time. Next time you want to play simply use the Up Arrow and the Down Arrow to adjust the date and time, the Right Arrow to advance as each item is correct and the Enter Button to start the clock (or the Right Arrow button when you finish setting the minutes).

Setting the Date and Time:
Go to the clock screen if you aren't already there (with no icons lit, press "B"). If the clock is not already in Set Mode (the clock will not be keeping time if it is in Set Mode), put it in Set Mode by pressing the Right Arrow and the Left Arrow at the same time. Now the Month number will be blinking in the Date. Use the Up Arrow to increase the number, use the Down Arrow to decrease the number. Press the Right Arrow or the Enter Button ("B") to confirm your choice. This will move the curser to the next item in the list; the day of the month. If you need to go back for any reason, press the Left Arrow to return to your previous items. Keep using these methods to finish setting the date, hour and minutes. When you confirm the minutes on the clock the TamaSuku will resume keeping time - meaning your class is in session. Press the Enter Button ("B") to go back to the main screen.

Setting AM/PM or 24Hr Time:
Press the Enter Button ("B") to go to the clock screen. Press the Left Arrow or the Right Arrow on the "A" keypad to switch between AM/PM hours and 24 Hour (military) time settings. Press the Enter Button ("B") to go back to the main screen.

Setting Contrast:
Press "B" to go to the clock screen, than press the Up Arrow and the Down Arrow at the same time. Use the left and right arrows to adjust the contrast. The further to the right gets darker and the further to the left gets lighter. Press "B" to save your settings.

Special thanks goes to Dancinkayley (TSS) for helping find the contrast setting.

Battery:
When the battery is getting low the TamaSuku will let you know when a student and talks to you, showing a battery with an X over it. The TamaSuku takes a CR2032 battery. You can buy this at most stores that carry a wide range of batteries like RadioShack.

Things about TamaSuku I don’t Understand Yet:

  • The second screen on the status window - These are grade scores, do they have any effect on anything else in TamaSuku (such as which characters you get).
  • When special characters like the king come, what does that extra dialog mean, what are they talking about?
  • Why did one student give me a present and not any others before him?
  • When you press the "C" button, while no icons are lit, the character on the screen will get a ! by his head. Sometimes the character will be happy, other times sad. Why is this happening and what does it mean? Perhaps it is like waving to the student, or poking them, getting their attention perhaps?
  • Why do the characters come to me out of order. The characters I have so far have numbers that skip around. Perhaps some are rarer than others or can only be obtained through connecting to Uratama or Entama.
  • Does TamaSuku ever end? Like Tamagotchi go back to their home planet. Do TamaSuku students graduate?
  • I am unsure about some of the content in the Japanese Manual on the two first introduction pages and also some of the information on pages 6, 7, 10, 18-31, 33-35, 37. There's just not enough time in the day to translate all of this information. I'll try to with time. Until than, if you can read Japanese and can provide any clues, please feel free to write me and clue me in on that content. A complete copy of the Japanese manual can be found on the next page.
