First off all, please read this carefully and seriously. This is not some kind of scam like there have been numerously!!! I've got some awesome news that I think you need to take two minutes to read if you have ever thought "How could I make some serious cash in a hurry???" , or been in serious debt, ready to do almost anything to get the money needed to pay off those bill collectors. So grab a snack, a warm cup of coffee, or a glass of your favorite beverage, get comfortable and listen to this interesting, exciting find! Let me start by saying that I FINALLY FOUND IT! That's right! I found it! And I HATE GET RICH QUICK SCHEMES!! I hate those schemes like multi-level marketing, mail-order schemes, envelope stuffing scams, telephone number scams... the list goes on forever. I have tried every darn get rich quick scheme out there over the past 12 years. I somehow got on mailing lists for people looking to make money. Well, when I was a teenager, these claims to 'get me rich quick' sounded irresistible! I would shell out $14.95 here, $29.95 there, $24.95 here, and another $49.95 there. I had maxed out my new Circuit City Card AND my Visa...I was desperate for money!! So, I gave them all a chance but failed at every one of them! Maybe they worked for some people, but not for me. Eventually, I just tossed that JUNK MAIL in the trash when I got the mail. I recognized it right away. I can smell a money scam from a mile away these days, SO I THOUGHT.... I thought I could sniff out a scam easily. WAS I WRONG!! ...I LOVE THE INTERNET!!! I was scanning thru a NEWSGROUP and saw an article stating to GET CASH FAST!! I thought..."Here on the Internet?? Well, I'll just have to see what schemes could possibly be on the internet." The article described a way to MAIL A ONE DOLLAR BILL TO ONLY FIVE PEOPLE AND MAKE $50,000 IN CASH WITHIN 4 WEEKS! Well, the more I thought about it, the more I became very curious. Why? Because of the way it worked AND BECAUSE IT WOULD ONLY COST ME FIVE DOLLARS (AND FIVE STAMPS), THAT'S ALL I EVER PAY....EVER!! Ok, so the $50,000 in cash was maybe an tough amount to reach, but it was possible. I knew that I could at least get a return of $1,000 or so. So I did it!! As per the instructions in the article, I mailed out ('snail mail' for you e-mail fanatics) a single dollar bill to each of the five people on the list that was contained in the article. I included a small note, with the dollar, that stated "Please Add Me To Your List." I then removed the first position name of the five names listed and moved everyone up one position, and I put my name in position five of the list. This is how the money starts rolling in! I then took this revised article now with my name on the list and REPOSTED IT ON AS MANY NEWSGROUPS AND LOCAL BULLETIN BOARD MESSAGE AREAS THAT I KNEW. I then waited to watch the money come in...prepared to maybe receive about $1000 to $1500 in cash or so.... But what a welcome surprise when those envelopes kept coming in!!! I knew what they were as soon as I saw the return addresses from people all over the world-Most from the U.S., but some from Canada, even some from Australia! I tell you, THAT WAS EXCITING!! So how much did I get in total return? $1000? $5000? Not even!!! I received a total of $23,343!!! I couldn't believe it!! I now have a brand new black sports-car to speak for, due to all of this!! Now,after almost 8 months, I am ready to do it again!!! So maybe it was possible to get $50,000 in cash, I don't know, but IT COMPLETELY DEPENDS ON YOU, THE INDIVIDUAL! You must follow through and repost this article everywhere you can think of! The more postings you achieve will determine how much cash will arrive in your very own mailbox!! It's just too easy to pass up!!! Let's review the reasons why you should do this: The only cost factors are for the five stamps, the 5 envelopes and the 5 one dollar bills that you send out to the listed names by snail mail (Postal Service Mail). Then just simply repost the article (WITH YOUR NAME ADDED) to all the newsgroups and local BBS's you can. Then sit back and, (ironically), enjoy walking (you can run if you like! :o ) down your driveway to your mailbox and scoop up your rewards!! We all have five dollars to put into such an easy effortless investment with SPECTACULAR REALISTIC RETURNS OF $15,000 to $25,000 in about 3-5 weeks! So HOLD OFF ON THOSE LOTTERY NUMBERS FOR TODAY,EAT AT HOME TONIGHT INSTEAD OF TAKEOUT FROM McDONALDS AND INVEST FIVE DOLLARS IN THIS AMAZING MONEY MAKING SYSTEM NOW!!! YOU CAN'T LOSE!! Remember: it's only FIVE dollars! Didn't you ever made the mistake to help someone with 5 dollars, never got it back and thought "What's 5 bucks anyway?" In this case it's a ticket to a LOT of money! So how do you do it exactly, you ask? I have carefully provided the most detailed, yet straightforward instructions on how to easily get this underway and get your cash on its way. SO, ARE YOU READY TO MAKE SOME CASH!!!?? HERE WE GO!!! *** THE LIST OF NAMES IS AT THE END OF THIS ARTICLE. *** OK, Read this carefully. Get a printout of this information, if you like, so you can easily refer to it as often as needed. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Take a sheet of paper and write on it the following: "Please add my name to your list". This creates a service out of this money making system and thus making it completely legal, anywhere in the world. ANYWHERE? Yes, all the postal services are a member of the UPU, a worldwide postal organisation. They all have the same rules about sending money. You are not just randomly sending a dollar to someone, you are paying one dollar for a legitimate service. 2. Make sure you include your name and address. I assure you that, again, this is completely legal! You can inclose a little note to just say 'hi' as the new member of this 'money-family'! For a neat little twist, also write what slot their name was in: "You were in slot 3", Just to add a little fun! This is all about having fun and making money at the same time! 3. Now fold this sheet of paper around a dollar bill (no checks or money-orders, or all the money will go to cashing them), and put them into an envelope and send it on its way to the five people listed. The folding of the paper around the bill will insure its arrival to its recipient. THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT!! You don't want your money to go to greedy postal-workers, do you? 4. Now listen carefully, here's where you get YOUR MONEY COMING TO YOUR MAILBOX. Look at the list of five people; remove the first name from position one and move everyone on the list up slot one on the list. Position 2 name will now move to the position 1 slot , position 3 will now become position 2, 4 will be 3, 5 wil be 4. Now put your name, address, zipcode AND COUNTRY in position 5, the bottom position on the list. 5. Now upload this updated file to as many newsgroups and local bulletin boards' message areas & file section as possible. Give a catchy description of the file so it gets noticed!! Such as: "NEED FAST CASH?, HERE IT IS!" or "NEED CASH TO PAY OFF YOUR DEBTS??", etc. And the more uploads, the more money you will make, and of course, the more money the others on the list will make too. LET'S ALL TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER BY BEING HONEST AND BY PUTTING FORTH 120 PERCENT INTO THIS PROFITABLE & AMAZING SYSTEM!!! You'll reap the benefits, believe me!!! Set a goal for the number of total uploads you'll post, such as 15-20 postings or even more! There are really no limits, since there are far more newsgroups worldwide then you ever can post to! Always have a goal in mind!!! If you can UUE-encode the file when uploading, that will make it easier for the people to receive it and have it downloaded to their hard drive. That way they get a copy of the article right on their computer without hassles of viewing and then saving the article from the File menu. Don't alter the file type, leave it as an MS-DOS Text file. The best test is to be able to view this file using Notepad for Windows 3.x or WordPad for Windows '95. If the margins look right without making the screen slide left or right when at the ends of the sentences, you're in business! 6. If you need help uploading, simply ask the sysop of the BBS, or "POST" a message on a newsgroup asking how to post a file, tell them who your Internet provider is and PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS BE GLAD TO HELP. I would try to describe how to do it but there are simply too many internet software packages with slightly different yet relatively simple ways to post or upload a file. Just ask for help or look in the help section for 'posting'. I do know that for GNN, you simply select 'POST' then enter a catchy description under the subject box, choose 'ATTACH', selecting 'UUE' and NOT 'TXT', then choose 'Browse' to go look for the file. Find your text file CASH.TXT and click on it and choose 'OK'. Place a one line statement in the main body section of the message post screen. Something like "Download this to read how to get cash arriving in your mailbox with no paybacks!" or whatever. Just make sure it represents its true feasibility, NOT something like... "Get one million dollars flooding in your mailbox in two days!" You'll never get ANY responses! 7. And this is the step I like. JUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY LIFE BECAUSE CASH IS ON ITS THE WAY!! Expect to see a little money start to trickle in around 2 weeks, but AT ABOUT WEEKS 3 & 4, THE MONEY STORM WILL HIT YOUR MAILBOX!! All you have to do is take it out of the mailbox and try not to scream too loud (outside anyway) when you realize YOU HIT THE BIG TIME AT LAST!! 8. Simply sacrifice an Atari 2600 "Combat" cartridge (there seems to be no shortage in my area) :-) and remove the spring which holds the cartridge's dust cover shut. After extracting the spring, gently bend the springs "legs" apart until they stay apart at an angle like the original Vectrex spring. Install in the joystick's potentiometer, trim the legs to length with wire cutters, and slightly bend the trimmed legs back against the edge of the opening. This produced very good results for me! disclaimer: This is for informational purposes only! The FTP site is: ftp://ftp.csus.edu You'll have to look around a bit, but the file is called >vectrex_tar.z< It has every Vectrex game included, but keep in mind that 3-D games and light pen games do not work with the emulator. To extract the archive, I used WinZip(5.2 I think). When asked to name the extracted file, rename it to >vectrex.tar<, then extract that file.(remember, you will be extracting TWICE!) This will create a bunch of directories. The files the emulator needs are in the >games< directory. You'll need to change all the suffixes from >*.gam< to >*.bin<, and be sure to put them in your emulator's directory! Have Fun! -- +-----------------------------------+ + MEZMARON + + a.k.a. You must use BINARY mode, and on a DOS machine you need to abbreviate the name of the tar file: ftp> get vectrex.tar.Z vecttar.Z (Note the uppercase Z!) ftp> get uncomp.exe ftp> get tar.exe Now, uncompress the tar file: uncomp vecttar.Z You now have a tar file names 'vecttar'. To see its contents: tar tvf vecttar To extract the files: tar xf vecttar You will get many error messages when tar tries to create directories. But the extract works and creates a directory named 'vectrex'. NOTE: you CANNOT already have a file named 'vectrex' in the current directory! Note2: The text files contain U*ix-style line ends. That means that a linefeed character denotes end of line; DOS expects CR-LF pairs. ---- I've also added the Dos vectrex Emulator Beta 4 to the archive (look in emulator) and the binaries for Vaders and Patriot (check out pcjohn). -- John John F. Well yes I have finally tracked them down and gotten information, actually I tracked them down last month but have had postal problems getting the info. The device basically has RED GREEN and BLUE LCD shutters. The monitor draws the picture for the red part of the colour (RGB) and the Red Filter is turned on, then the monitor does the same for green and blue. It is called sequential (serial) colour and is used in a number of new visual products. The eye combines this into a single colour, so basically with different intensities for each of the RGB components, 256 colours are available. And as it is an overlay available in sizes from 1-19 inches you can use your normal Vectrex monitor. Really simple to program and hook up, all you do is hook it to the address as an I/O device (unless there is some unused section of the sound chip), leave the last colour fade off the monitor pulse it to the next of the RGB colours, draw that on the monitor (as ussual) and repeat. Sort of like the 3D headset. Now for the catch, to get the full steady image at 60Hz you need to draw three frames, one each 180th of a second, you maybe able to go as low as 60Hz (20 images a second) but this will give some sort of flicker. Plus I don't know whether the Vectrex image will die quick enough between frames. I have not the hardware experience to do this myself, and am interested in this technology for something else. Now if we approach the company in question indivually we can expect them to be p__sed off to put it politely especially at me and we could hardly expect any discount. So if somebody would like to do the research (into wether it will sufficently work) and the design they might be able to approach the owners of the Vectrex technology (Western something or other it's in the FAQ) with the completed design (otherwise they will want heaps to design it themselves) or form a business themselves to produce a batch of chips for prepaid orders. So basically they could get pre-orders from people on the net and clubs, who would pay cost or full price now and the rest latter when the product actually gets produced. This allows for cheap mass production in a batch. This also makes it possible to produce a colour handheld Vectrex with the Sinclair flat handheld T.V. tube, they were going to use years ago. But I'm afraid as with the last planned handheld Vectrex idea which was killed off by the GameBoy this could suffer a simular fate at the hand of the Nintendo 32-bit Atlantis Colour GameBoy, but nice idea. I have study to do now and won't be available until a couple of days next week. So if anybody is interested in doing this as a commercial venture email me, anybody else don't expect to get a reply. What is Vector Vaders ? A. A "New" game for the Vectrex Arcade System, based upon the popular "Invaders" style games popular during the first video game boom. With the many games that were originally released for the Vectrex, this definitely wasn't one of them. Of course, if it was, wouldn't be reading this right now. Q. How do I obtain a copy of Vector Vaders ? A. Currently, there are three ways : (1) Contact the author: John Dondzila (me) My E-Mail address is pcjohn@crisp.net I am selling Vector Vaders for twenty (20) US dollars which includes shipping within the continental USA. This price includes the Vector Vaders Mini Cart, a sturdy plastic holding case and printed instructions. To order Vector Vaders , contact the author at pcjohn@crisp.net If you live outside of the continental USA, please send me an E-Mail and we can discuss shipping arrangements. (Naturally, it's going to cost a bit more). Screen shots as well as a Mini Cart picture, more information about how the game was made and information about upcoming games are available at my web page: http://www.texel.com/home/pcjohn/index.html (2) Contact Sean Kelly (skelly@xnet.com) Sean manufactures multi-carts with most of the Vectrex games ever made on it, now including Vector Vaders. (3) The Vector Vaders software is public domain. It will eventually be posted at FTP.CSUS.EDU for those interested in making their own carts. Q. What is a "Mini Cart" ? A. I have been unsuccessful to date in duplicating Vectrex cartridge cases. The mini cart is a small plastic case containing the circuit board and EPROM for the game. Again, a picture is available on my web page. Newer mini-carts are actually modified Intellivision game cart cases. Those who have the original mini-carts, consider them collector's items as I don't plan to be making them any more. PATRIOTS -------- To sum it up, Patriots is a "Missile Command" clone. I cannot begin to say how proud I am of this game. I can say that any Vectrex owner will want to have this game. It is currently fully functional but many "features" must still be added. If space allows, a short demo of my "Arkanoid" clone will also be included with Patriots. Patriots is fast, loaded with action and extemely challenging. This is going to be one of the best games ever written for the Vectrex. Period. (Even the box cover is going to be a full color image). That's all I will say about it for now. It will be worth it. - John Dondzila Patriots is a "Missile Command" clone. Patriots is faster and more challenging than other missile games. It is visually exciting, with many special effects, including fades, scaling and rotation. Sound effects are my best yet. Game control is solid with additional options for those who need them. Patriots is superior to Vector Vaders in many ways. For starters, the code is much more optimized (and I still don't have a 6809 book) making the game run very, very smooth. Vectrex "flicker" is practically nonexistent, except for higher levels with tons of missiles, patriots and explosions all happening at once. By the way, did I mention that Patriots contains a "SECRET" bonus game ? You can obtain Patriots on the Sean Kelly multicart, however true collectors will more than likely want to purchase the complete game from me. Here is what you get in the Patriots package: - Sturdy, SHRINKWRAPPED box - Full color box cover (VERY IMPRESSIVE TITLE PICTURE) - Complete instructions - A Patriots mini-cart, numbered and autographed by the author (me) - The Patriots game is also customized, so that when you start the game, you will have your cartridge number displayed on the title screen. It gets even better - Your name is also included in the program so the title screen will display the following message: "CUSTOM PRODUCED FOR your name here". HOW TO ORDER: ------------- The price of Patriots is twenty US dollars ($20.00). Shipping is included within the continental USA. Outside the USA will cost a bit more for shipping (About $3.00 Canada, $5.00 overseas). Due to the fact that I cannot produce these ahead of time, as I did with Vector Vaders, there will be a longer turn around time. Right now I would say 4 to 7 days from receipt of payment. You can obtain more information by contacting me via E-Mail at pcjohn@crisp.net For screen shots and a picture of the box, check out my web page at http://www.crisp.net/home/pcjohn/index.html I should also have some reviews and pictures from the meeting posted here shortly. To order Patriots, contact the author at pcjohn@crisp.net Make sure you clearly print the name you want to have programmed into the cartridge. Once it's done, I can't take it back out. For orders outside the USA, please contact me via E-Mail and we can make the appropriate arrangements. + - - - - Next Article - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - + Path: csus.edu!csulb.edu!drivel.ics.uci.edu!news.service.uci.edu!ihnp4.ucsd.edu!munnari.OZ.AU!bunyip.cc.uq.oz.au!janus.cqu.edu.au!cq-pan.cqu.EDU.AU!waynem1 From: waynem1@cq-pan.cqu.edu.au (Wayne Morellini) Newsgroups: rec.games.vectrex Subject: Re: Color Vectrex, Possible Solution? Even if you succeed then anybody who wants one will have to first : track down this old system and then have the electronics know-how to rig the color : circuitry in. If there is a market for a color vector game system, then it's time to : design a new system. I've been studying the TMS320c5x DSP processor, and I think that : would be a good choice to make it happen. Hopefully in the next few months I will have : a b&w prototype running on my starter kit board. I unfortunately replied to this post, so I'll try to followup again. Well it's not meant for new people or to be a "market for a color vector game system", it is meant to be an upgrade for existing vectrex owners. Instead of the other system people are looking at where you hook in a color video encoder to the vectrex, buy a tempest monitor and run leads to it. It would be significantly simpler than buying a tempest monitor and encoder and installing them. Probably significantly easier to design the unit, as it only needs a signal to switch the filter between colors (and a reset signal) and power from the Vectrex (or even from mains). The unit could probably be plugged with a through connector from the cartridge or second joystick port, or somebody could take it into a electronics repair shop and get them to do it. The unit could match in with the Vectrex, there is no software for the Tempest idea yet anyway, and you would get a full 256 colours RGB. You could design a new vector graphic games system and maybe succeed against all the super systems through some stroke of fortune, like Bill.G. But how far do you think you would get if somebody wrote a vector graphics routine for the PlayStation, 3-DO's, Saturn, Nintendo64, PC's and Super Nintendo. All able to do anti-aliasing effects, with resolutions from 512*242 to 1024*768 (reported for Nintendo64, actaul for PC), and wrote Vector games for it. Sure we can have an all in one unit, but for a simular price we could have an all in one unit that did vector graphics and Raster (There are even TV sets that incorporate these game systems). Sit back 6 feet or more and they start to look simular. Well as knowbody has contacted me and the people who were interested in a Color Vectrex, don't seem to be now, I think I'll just take my Vectrex elsewhere to another group where I don't have to fill in the b l a n k s. But how I'm not trying to design a system that will blow away all the others. I am considering designing one for my own pleasure and to get some experience with the TMS320C5x. Nevertheless, I think a new vector system (Vectrex 2?) could compete with the other systems. Not a b&w system with a 2 dimensional playfield, but a color 3-d system similar to virtual boy (Vectrex 3D :). > far do you think you would get if somebody wrote a vector graphics routine > for the PlayStation, 3-DO's, Saturn, Nintendo64, PC's and Super Nintendo. Nobody has, and they probably won't because vector graphics don't look good on a raster display device. I don't care what resolution or effects they support, your TV can only handle 525 lines. Although that can give you fairly straight lines, it just doesn't compare to a vector monitor. > Well as knowbody has contacted me and the people who were interested in a > Color Vectrex, don't seem to be now, I think I'll just take my Vectrex > elsewhere to another group where I don't have to fill in the b l a n k s. > > Bye. > Nobody is running you off. It is a good idea and may even be practical if it is cheap and can be plugged in to an extra joystick port or something. Still, someone would have to either write new games for it or rewrite old ones. I don't know anything about the filter but it sounds like it may need an external device to pulse code modulate the colors to get different shades. The picture may even be better than what you could get from a Tempest monitor because you have continous phosper distribution in a b&w tube. I have always found color vector monitors to be annoying because of poor convergence and the different colored phospers getting in the way of a smooth line. This filter would not have either of these problems, so I would like to hear more about it..not so I can apply it to the vectrex, but to a new system if I ever design one. + - - - - Next Article - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - + Path: csus.edu!csulb.edu!info.ucla.edu!nnrp.info.ucla.edu!agate!usenet.kornet.nm.kr!usenet.etri.re.kr!news.kreonet.re.kr!news.dacom.co.kr!bofh.dot!arclight.uoregon.edu!chi-news.cic.net!news.cais.net!nntp.primenet.com!news1.best.com!nntp1.best.com!sharonh From: sharonh@best.com (Sharon Henkel) Newsgroups: rec.games.vectrex Subject: Vectrex For Sale Date: Wed, 12 Jun 96 22:39:14 GMT Organization: Best Internet Communications Lines: 5 Distribution: inet Message-ID: <4q1hv6$mmi@nntp1.best.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: sharonh.vip.best.com Summary: Selling Vectrex X-Newsreader: News Xpress 2.0 Beta #0 I am moving and need to sell my Vectrex. Now I see a Vectrex 3D Imager (with all three games) is currently going at Sean Kelly's auction for $600 and still climbing. It's hard to tell where this will end, with that kind of past history. These things are VALUABLE! I have one. With all three games. In NEW condition. And I'll sell it. No auction. No bidding. Just send me $600 (plus shipping) and it's yours. (I had this up for auction last November, but the winning bidder never came through). Here are the details: Everything is here in brand spanking NEW condition. The unit itself is in mint condition. Does it work? Of course it works! Perfectly! And it looks absolutely beautiful. Even the foam forehead pad is still soft and supple. It includes the "3D Minestorm" cartridge and color wheel (in it's own mint envelope). And the instruction manual. Even the little insert showing how to install the color wheel latch is still there. It's complete with original styrofoam packing and box, just like it came from the warehouse. Actually the box is in better condition than most of the boxes originally on the store shelves. Not a mark or crease on it! But wait, there's more! Also included is "3D Narrow Escape". There's no box for this one, sorry to say. But you get the cartridge, color wheel (in the envelope), and instruction pamphlet. All in absolutely new shape! But wait, there's STILL more! Also included is "3D Crazy Coaster". Complete with everything in the original box, just as originally purchased at Sears. It even still has the original Sears price sticker on it. The box is slightly bent in the back, but other than that there are no flaws. The plastic holder is intact. Comes with a new looking cartridge, color wheel in it's own envelope, instruction pamphlet and the rare separate addendum warning you about accidentally being thrown out of the roller coaster. Except for the slight damage to the box, this is also in mint condition. I bought all of these at Sears and Toys R Us when they were new, and used them only once. Because of an eye problem, I had trouble viewing the 3D effect. So they were stored away and never were used again. They are just as originally purchased! You'll never find these in better condition. They are gorgeous!!! There you have it. The extremely rare 3D Imager and all the games ever released for it. And even rarer, in mint condition. I forget his name, but he also has a home page explaining how he made the games. Unfortunatly, I don't have the address on hand.
