Tama Name v1.5by Mr.Blinky March 2015 - October 2020

TamaName.exe is a simple tool to change the display name of a Tamagotchi iD, iDL, P's, 4U, M!x, Meets and On download item. This tools requires no install and can be used in several ways:

Double clicking

When double clicking the tool starts with a file dialog window so you can browse for a file to rename.

Drag and dropping

You can drag and drop a file onto the executable or drag and drop a file into the Tama Name window.

Using 'Send to' right click menu

Renaming can be made very easy by creating a short cut in Windows explorers send to folder. After creating the shortcut, you can right click a file, choose > send to > Tama Name to rename it.

Double click the create-send-to-shortcut.vbs to create the shortcut.

Using Tama Name

As mentioned earlier if no file was specified while starting Tama Name a Open file dialog is opened so you can select a file. If you've chosen a wrong file or clicked cancel the dialog just closes and all controls are disabled. You can Press CTRL+O or choose File > Open to choose a file again.

After a file has been loaded successfully you will see the Items name in the Item name box. You may type a new name or use the help of the combo box to select a new character for the character at the right side of the cursor. When there is no character at the right then a character is added unless the name is 8 characters.

To help in finding a new name for the item a google translate button is added. Clicking this button will launch google translate in your browser and the item name is translated from Japanese into English. If the translated name is suitable you can copy and paste it into the Item name box. But remember you can only use 8 characters.

The Restore button allowes you to restore the item name to it's original state for as long as the Item name has not been saved.

with files other then the iD you will also be able to change the downloads serialnumber. Only change the serial number if you know what you are doing.

The Save button saves the renamed download. Restoring the item name is no longer once the changes are saved.
