As such the logon procedures for each BBS may vary. For instance, some give you immediate access, while others have a probation period which may last several days. All nodes are encouraged to offer all the Gravis files and messages to first time callers but this may not always be the case. If you are interested in becoming an Authorized Gravis Node you may file request or download GRAV-APP.ZIP from the Gravis BBS. Other Sources for UltraSound Files: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CompuServe: GO PCVENB area #14 71333,350 FTP Sites: archive.epas.utoronto.ca pub/pc/ultrasound wuarchive.wustl.edu systems/msdos/ultrasound Internet: UltraSound Digest: ultrasound%itchy@dsd.es.com GUS SDK Digest: gus-sdk%itchy@dsd.es.com To post to tomorrow's digest Request: Daily Digest Server: ultrasound-request%itchy@dsd.es.com GUS SDK Digest: gus-sdk-request%itchy@dsd.es.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, and request files Owner Address: ultrasound-owner%itchy@dsd.es.com To contact a human if the server has troubles NOTE: the %itchy and dsd domains will be removed sometime during the beginning of June. So ultrasound%itchy@dsd.es.com will become ultrasound@es.com. ============================================================================== *** IMPORTANT **** There are about 8Mb of files. This roughly translates to 8 hours of downloading at 2400 baud or 90 minutes at 14400 bps. Keep this in mind if you are calling long distance. You will need to unzip each file to a seperate 1.44Mb 3 1/2" disk to install. You can NOT simply unzip all the files into a DOS directory and install them from there. Each disk was designed to completly fill a 1.44Mb floppy when uncompressed. Because ZIP added a few extra bytes to each file you will NOT be able to copy the .ZIP files to a floppy, unzip them first. What About the Bonus Software ----------------------------- The version which will be distributed on the computer networks is V2.06L, (the L stands for lite), which does NOT include Power Chords or MidiSoft. Both these programs are COMMERCIAL programs and can NOT be distributed. The mail out will consist of V2.06 which WILL include these disks. All future versions of UltraSound will also include these bonus programs. What Has Changed ---------------- From V2.0-V2.5 -------------- Mostly the install. If you'll remember, we released V2.02 of the software to the computer networks in March. This allowed us to get some valuable feedback from you on what was wrong or missing. Quickly, here is what has changed. SETGUS - Setgus will not put its LOG file in your UltraSound directory instead of your current directory. Patchs - A much better Honky Tonk Piano - Inst #84 is now Charang SBOS - What can I say Windows Install - No longer dies if the user has files set to < 20 - Now checks to see if they are running a shell other than progman - Makes sure your GUS Windows drivers are in the right place - Fixed major problem if users were upgrading from V1.x of the Windows software. DOS Install - Runs setgus before the install to verify the GUS is working correctly - Allows you to restore a single or group of files - Removes the temporary directory created by Windows - Warn the user that STACKER and DOUBLE SPACE may not be returning the true drive space remaining. - By reading the ULTRADIR and ULTRASND enviro variables determine if this is a new install or an upgrade Bunch of other things..... From V1.x --------- EVERYTHING! I'm including parts of the README file that talk about some of these changes. For a complete explanation please refer to the COMPLETE README. Also, printed documenation will be mailed out to all registered GUS owners. So send in those registration cards! For further Information READ the README. It is twice as big as before!!! Enjoy John
